Upstream USA is the largest organization in the nation using an evidence-based program to improve contraceptive access. Rooted in the belief that contraceptive care is basic healthcare that should be accessible and affordable to all people, Upstream works to integrate patient-centered contraceptive care into primary care settings so that patients can access the contraceptive service that meets their needs and preferences where and when it’s convenient for them.

Upstream’s core program has strengthened contraceptive services in 37 states—improving care for more than one million patients annually. Upstream recognizes that the landscape of healthcare is shifting and sustained impact now requires reaching people beyond brick-and-mortar settings. To meet this need, Upstream is expanding its model to include a no-cost, digital telehealth platform, FreeBC, designed to deliver contraceptive care directly to those who would otherwise go without it.
